Belgian-based South African right-back Ntuthuko Radebe has been killed in a car accident in South Africa, his club confirmed on Tuesday.
Eupen announced the tragic news on their website, offering heartfelt condolences to the family of the 23-year-old.
“The team, the staff, supervisors, all employees and supporters of KAS Eupen lost a good friend. His kindness, his company, his loyalty, his commitment and good humour have earned him great respect. Ntuthuko Radebe will forever remain a family member of KAS Eupen,” the club said.
Radebe is a former Under-17 international, who was also in the frame for Olympic Games selection for the Under-23s last year.
His career had been stunted by injuries, which meant he made just 29 league starts in five seasons at Eupen after his arrival from the Aspire Academy in Qatar in 2012.
He helped the club into the top-flight ahead of last season, but made just two starts.
