Neo Dube (20) is a Soul and Jazz Vocalist who is still to expand to greater heights within the arts. She would love to go into acting and presenting but is more focused on music at the moment.
She was born and bred in Umlazi Township, Durban and she is the youngest in a family of 10. She completed her matric at Umlazi Comtech School. She is currently doing N’s in Electrical engineering at Ethekwini College.
“Artistry is a calling just like any other profession. I can safely say that it chose me,” she said.
Her passion for music stems back from an early age when she discovered she could sing after trying out dancing. She grew up singing at church where she realised that her voice was beyond and her talent couldn’t go to waste. When she got to high school she started going for music lessons where she found a new love for Jazz Music after having to go with her teacher tongues and musical workshops.
She is currently busy trying to get herself out there by promoting her music. She has worked with the likes of Thina Zungu, Dumi Mkokstad and she has done Afro Soul and House music where she has been featured a lot.
“I am driven, I am also a fan of determination and hard work. Amanda Black is one person that makes me realise that anything is possible,” she added.
She has been part of a lot of projects including Simon Mabhunu Sabela Awards and also did a campaigning song for Campaign for Cancer. She mentioned that her greatest achievement to date has to be her album which was released on the 30th June this year, she recorded it at Tufix Production.
“I am a strong believer, never shaken and I am sensitive about my art. I would most definitely love to work with Thandiswa Mazwai,” she said.
Her plan is to achieve all that she has set as goals, most probably score a fee awards in life. Her album is available on all digital platforms, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Deezer and Amazon.
She is NeoDube RSA on Facebook and @ neodubersa on Twitter and Instagram.
