There is more concern raised over the safety of Uber drivers and passengers as tensions continue to escalate, between meter taxi drivers and drivers, from the popular app based ride hailing service.
Uber management confirmed that that one of their driver-partners died from injuries sustained during an attack near Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on 10 June.
The managers of the ride hailing service have since requested a meeting with Police Minister Fikile Mbalula to resolve the violence.
The ministry of police’s spokesperson, Vuyo Mhaga says it is currently with Uber management to try and find middle ground between their drivers and metered taxi drivers.
