There has been a lot of speculation regarding Neymar’s future at Camp Nou. The Brazil international has been advised by close friends and fans to leave the Blaugrana if he wants to win the Ballon d’Or and be established as the best player in the world.
The 25-year-old has a £195 million release clause on his current contract with Copa Del Rey champions and PSG are willing to activate his current clause and make him one of the highest earners in football with £26.6 million salary annually.
English giants Manchester City and Manchester United are known to be long time admirers for the talented forward and they would break the bank to secure Neymar’s signature at this point.
According to reports in Spain, the talented forward wants to be a star player in his team and that is very impossible at this point whilst playing alongside the five times Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi who is considered to be the best player in the world.
Barcelona has the best trio in the world of football currently namely Messi, Suarez and Neymar (MSN) and they have helped their side win the treble, season before last, managing to win one title last season the Copa Del Rey after being knocked out by Juventus in the Champions League quarterfinals and losing out on the league title to long-time rivals Real Madrid.
The shadow of Messi in Spain is Neymar’s main challenge. He feels that people will always compare his accomplishments with Messi’s. He wants to build his own legacy and be established as a star player in his team although it seems very unlikely that Barcelona will want to go separate ways with their star man.
According to reports, in a press conference on Monday, Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez said that they are not going to sell good players and they have not had any offers from other clubs.
“I don’t think that is going to happen,” He told reporters.
“It is not our intention to lose players, certainly not good players. We try to confine of what is possible, we’ve had not had any offers for any players in our squad,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Neymar and his team have reportedly addressed the rumours via Spanish radio station Cadena COPE, rubbishing claims that he wants to join Les Parisiens.
The Brazilian reportedly insisted that he is happy at Barca, with whom he has a contract until 2021.
Neymar’s representatives are also said to be outraged by the claims coming from Brazil, although the 25-year-old has been linked with PSG before.
It has also been suggested that the French club’s latest interest comes as a revenge tactic against Barca, who have been relentless in their pursuit of Italian midfielder Marco Verratti.
Neymar had a good season last season with Barca scoring 19 goals and providing 19 assists in 46 appearances.
