The South African Post office says it’s ready to take over social grant payments, from Cash Paymaster Services.
This is despite Thokozani Magwaza’s shocking exit as CEO of the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
The Department of Social Development announced Magwaza’s resignation on Monday, just hours after threats to his life became known.
The intimidation intensified after Magwaza ended the SASSA contract with social grants distributor, Cash Paymaster Services.
Magwaza recently cancelled the contracts of the so-called work streams which Minister Bathabile Dlamini put in place three years ago.
SAPO CEO, Mark Barnes, said they are still looking forward to working with Sassa, despite recent developments.
