City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor, Herman Mashaba, has fulfilled his promise of an improved security in Vilakazi Street, Soweto, following the murder of Sakhumzi restaurant manager, Kwesi Hudson, in February.
The street is the centre of tourism, with former President Nelson Mandela, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, having lived there before.
Ward Councilor responsible for the iconic street, Themba Msibi, said the need for security was paramount in the area which has about 7000 houses, and attracting thousands of tourists.
Msibi welcomed this anti-crime monitoring system which was launched at popular Sakhumzi restaurant.
Msibi voiced his appreciation for the City’s efforts, to monitor crime in the area.
