Over the weekend, local taverns were marked by series of violence which resulted to three death as a gang known as Scorpion attacked and killed three boys.

The first incident is reportedly to have taken place in Pongola town on a Friday, where Khumbulani Dlamini – a former member of the group stabbed to death another member, Mxolisi Sithole multiple times. Sithole died on the scene nearby Sodwana tavern.

It appeared that this angered members of the group and planned a revenge for their friend. On Saturday, the gang gate-crashed into Pongola Country Lodge tavern with machete-style knife and attack Dlamini repeatedly. He was badly injured and they left him there, the staff tried to save his life but died shortly after the management decided to close the tavern.

Later that evening, a gang of sympathetic to Dlamini staged their retaliation in a local tavern where they hit Thokozani Sihlongonyane on the head with an axe and he died on a Sunday morning at the hospital.

Speaking to the Republic Mail, Captain Maluleke said that they are still investigating and no arrest that have been made.
