Anglo Gold Ashanti says despite high debt levels, it’s not ruled out unbundling some of its South African assets to list separately.
Anglo Gold Ashanti has reported a loss for the first-half of the financial year. This comes as the miner prepares to cover retrenchment costs for a possibly over 8000 jobs.
It’s also facing a lung-disease class action suit brought by former workers, which could lead to pay-outs of almost R600-million. But the company’s operating performance rebounded in the second quarter.
Gold production has risen by 11% to over 900 thousand ounces. This however, has not led to any change in its annual production estimates.
