A Rustenburg council meeting to be postponed on Tuesday due to power failure.
The council chambers at the Rustenburg Civic Centre was plunged into darkness as councillors were taking their seats for the meeting to start. The meeting was postponed to October 3.
Municipal spokesperson Thapelo Matebesi said the outage was due to cable fault.
“We are currently experiencing  load problems on switching on  our system, following Eskom’s transformer fault and tripping last night [Monday] at Industrial sub-station affecting many areas of Rustenburg. We are delighted that power was restored in many parts last night [Monday],” he said.
Power was expected to be restored by 4pm. Affected areas included Tlhabane West, Noord, Protea, Boschadal, Safarituin, Paardekraal, Boitekong and isolated areas in the inner city.
