According to reports, Manchester United top bosses are considering tabling a five year contract extension for manager Jose Mourinho. This follows after an impressive start of the 2017/2018 season under the Portuguese manager in his second season at Old Trafford.
The deal is rumoured to be worth around £65 million per year for Mourinho, who currently earns a reported £250 000 per week at the club, making him one of the most paid managers in the world. United board are desperate to keep the decorated manager at Old Trafford following his return with two cups in his debut season.
The former Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and FC Porto manager has begun his quest to make the Red Devils a top team again after a disastrous era following the retirement of the iconic Sir Alex Fegurson, who was replaced by David Moyes, later replaced by Louis Van Gaal but neither of them matched expectations at the club.
United have won six of their seven games into the new season and are level on points bitter rival Manchester City who have recorded the same numbers of games and points but are on top of the log through the aid of a one goal difference. The Red Devils have scored 21 goals and conceding only 2 in the process, those 2 goals coming from their 2-2 draw with Stoke City, meaning they have kept 6 clean sheets out of 7 games this season.
Mourinho and his troops’ next assignment is a visit to bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon to continue their pursuit for the league title.
