Gauteng Premier David Makhura has on Thursday, congratulated provincial MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi and his team on their performance in the National Senior Certificate Results.
Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshegka announced the results of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations Thursday evening.
The Gauteng Department of Education attained an overall 85.1 percent pass rate, making it the second best performing province in the country to the Free State.
“Congratulations MEC Lesufi and Team GDE for dominating the top 10 districts and for moving to 2nd place! Now your sight is set firmly on 1st place!” said Makhura.
Makhura said that the Class of 2017 had done Gauteng proud, and went on to congratulated the Free State Province on their achievement.
“Congratulations to the Free State Province! Watch us, here we come in 2018!.”
The Gauteng Matric Results will be released at Nokuthula LSEN School in Lyndhusrt, Johannesburg at 10am on Friday.
