Swaziland club Mbabane Swallows FC boss and businessman Victor Gamedze has been shot dead in his native Swaziland after a shootout broiled out in a petrol station.

Gamedze’s club are the current reigning league champions and club Chief Executive Sandile Zwane has confirmed the news of his chairman’s passing.

“Yes, it is true that our chairman has been shot to death. We are still shocked. We are busy sorting out things with the family. We will release a proper statement that has all the details on Tuesday. We want to get the direction from the family,” stated Zwane via Independent Media.

Gamedze had been rumoured to be interested in owning a club in the South African Premier Soccer League, with Platinum Stars being the club rumoured to be willing to sell him their league status. However, that possibility is unlikely to materialise following the death of the renowned businessman.
