New Kaizer Chiefs recruit Kabelo Mahlasela is expected to be out of action for the rest of the season after being told that his ankle injury is likely to sideline him for up to four months.

The winger arrived at Naturena in the current transfer window from Bloemfonetin Celtic where he made a name for himself. However, Amakhosi fans might have to wait until the 2018/2019 season to see their new man don the black and gold jersey. Team physiotherapist David Milner has since confirmed the extent of the player’s injury.

“The procedure to repair a tear in his meniscus inside the knee went well. It is one of those unlucky situations that often happen in sport. It will be a lengthy one,” revealed the physiotherapist.

Mahlasela will be equally disappointed as he would have been hoping to get the ground running and fight for a regular place in Steve Kompela’s side but the injury he suffered on his first day of training with the club will put things on hold for him as he will spend the rest of the season recovering.
