Mamelodi Sundowns new signing Siyabonga Zulu has revealed that being at Chloorkop and going to play in the CAF Champions league is a dream come true for him.
The former Platinum Stars left back penned a three year deal with an option from another year was the Brazilians second signing this transfer window after the signing of Aubrey Ngoma . Zulu says he has always had ambitions of playing at the highest level of competition and believes that dream has manifested itself now that he is a Sundowns player.
“It is really a dream move for me, especially because I have always wanted to compete against the big teams on the continent that we see on television. Part of the motivation for coming to Sundowns was improving myself as a player and taking my game to the next level,” said Zulu.
Although the player is excited to be at his new club, he is aware of the competition at left back which is currently covered by Tebogo Langerman, with Fares Hachi also an option. He believes he has what it takes to make the cut as Pitso Mosimane has been his admirer for a while, meaning he can get the chance to play.
“At Sundowns you don’t just walk into the team, so I am going to fight hard for my place. I knew that they liked me but I could not predict when the transfer would happen. Last year there were talks but in the end, the transfer did not materialise,” he concluded.
The player will hope that he gets the nod from Pitso Mosimane in the match day squad against his former club Platinum Stars on Saturday at the Loftus Versveld Stadium.
