Suspended divisional commissioner of crime intelligence Richard Mdluli has been relieved from his duties effectively immediately on Wednesday.
Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula announced on Wednesday that Lt. General Richard Mdluli who gel the position of Division Commissioner albeit under long suspension with mutual agreement will be relieved from his post.
This was announced at a media conference in Pretoria.
“I have started with a process of appointing the new DPCI head as guided by South African Police Services (SAPS) Act and the appointment will be made before February 2018,” said Mbalula.
Emphasising the immediacy of the new appointment of Mdluli’s replacement, the Minister said; “I have instructed General Sitole to henceforth set out to appoint a fit and proper man or women into position without any further delay,” he stated.
“We are working under the theme we have no time to waste time.”
The Minister said the department is dealing with serious levels of violent crimes and organised corruption both in the public and private sector. More vacancies which include Deputy National Commissioner Management Intervention are also supposed to be filled by end of January.
