Orlando Pirates administrator Floyd Mbele has come out to clear the air regarding transfer rumours surrounding Abbubaker Mobara, Andije Jali and Phakamani Mahlambi.
Mobara has been in the the past weeks linked with a switch to fellow Johannesburg club Bidvest Wits but Mbele has revealed the player is staying put at the club and will not be moving during the transfer window that closes today.
“He is not going to Wits. Yes, there are formal talks between us and Wits about the possibility of getting some of the players from them and they also want players from us. But we will make announcements once everything is done,” explained Mbele.
Pirates however have captured a player from Bidvest Wits after a transfer for midfielder Xola Mlambo was agreed on. Mbele went on to ridicule links of Belgium-based Andile Jali and Egypt based Phakamani Mahlambi, insisting they won’t be joining the club.
“The fact that we said we want a striker, now everyone is linking us with all the strikers. You can be creative, but people shouldn’t present speculations as facts. Mahlambi is not allowed to move to another club because of FIFA rules. So how are we going to sign him then? We are not even sure whether he is there on loan or permanent deal,” concluded Mbele.
With the transfer window closing at midnight, Bucs and Wits will be working around the clock to conclude deals they are currently negotiation and could see more players move to opposite teams.
