SuperSport United welcomed Amazulu to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night to an ABSA Premiership clash.
Winless in the last three encounters SuperSport United would have been desperate for victory and sedately stared well. New signing Evans Rusike threated early on 12 minutes of the first half, the 27 year old Zimbabwean testing the goal keeper Siyabonga Mbatha.
The match came to live after the start of the second stanza Dean Furman’s 50 minute lower long range effort had beaten Siyabonga Mbatha, but knocked the woodwork.
With lot of action and the game opening up it was going to be a matter of time before the goal arrived. The goal came with the poor defence from the United defenders, as Khenyeza forced the save from Riyaad Pieterse, but the goal keeper was unable to clear the danger and Ovidy Karuru pounced on the rebound to take Amazulu to the 1-o lead on 53 minute.
Neither team was contending with that score line, the host went on search for the equaliser with Rusike again denied by Usuthu Keeper. Despite all the action in the match, only one goal separated the two sides, Amazulu claiming a 1-0 victory.
