Martizburg United coach Fadlu Davids says SuperSport United have signed a top player in Evans Rusike who joined Matsatsantsa from The Team Of Choice in the January transfer window as a replacement for Jeremy Brockie.
Speaking about his former player, Davids says that the player comes second to Sundowns exciting prospect Percy Tau statistically in terms of elements the player possesses. The Zimbabwean international has already opened his account for Matsatsantsa after he scored against Bloemfontein Celtic on the weekend.
“Evans is a fantastic player, just last week, before he was sold, we looked at the stats. Not in terms of goals and assists, but in terms of elements that are important to us. We look at the statistics and you know, its Sundowns forward Percy Tau on top and him second. He’s one of the best strikers in the league and congratulations to Supersport, they’ve got a fantastic player. He scored for them on the weekend”, explained Davids.
Although the Maritzburg coach congratulated Supersport for their acquisition, he made it no secret that he has lost a very important player but has no choice but to change the team’s attacking structures and move on.
“Of course losing a player like that is always a situation. But we have to tweak, we have to change our attacking structures slightly to be able to accommodate the players who we have. Because the players we have now have different strengths and we have to tweak the structures to get them to display their skills, play into certain areas on the pitch. And ja, we move on”, added Davids.
The Team of Choice lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates this past weekend and will want to redeem themselves when they play Moroka Swallows in the Nedbank Cup at the Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.
