Johannesburg – Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane will deliver what he calls, the Alternative State of the Nation Address (SONA) at East Bank Hall Alexandra, on Tuesday.
Ahead of the SONA expected to take place on Thursday, there has been great uncertainty on who will address the nation, with opposition parties requesting the address be postponed until Parliament elects a new President and President Jacob Zuma is removed from office.
According to the DA, Maimane has learnt what the nation is faced with and will deliver ‘the real’ SONA based on real life situations he has witnessed.
“Over the past weeks, DA leader has traveled across the country, learning first-hand the daily challenges faced by communities; as such, the leader will outline the real state of the nation, and the party’s vision for a New Beginning come 2019,” said the DA in a statement.
Meanwhile the African National Congress’ (ANC) National Working Committee (NWC) has called a special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, to discuss President Jacob Zuma’s pending term of office.
