POLOKWANE: Baroka Chairman Morgan Mammila has confirmed that team coach Kgoloko Thobejane will appear before the club’s disciplinary committee on 26 February and will not be in charge of the club’s to next games as he’ll be serving his suspension.
Thobejane is rumoured to have drank alcohol in the team bus whilst travelling from Free State for their match with Ea lla Koto where they lost 2-0. The coach is no stranger to suspension at the club as he has experienced that back in January 2017 before being reinstated as head coach again due to lacklustre performances from the team at the time. However, the club boss has decided against going into full details as to why coach was suspended this time around.
“I wouldn’t want to say why he has been suspended, every family has house rules and one of our house rules is not sharing sensitive information. We respect the coach and we respect the team. We can’t just give out the whole information. But the bottom line is that the coach has been suspended and the coach understands his suspension very well. We will have the DC on the week of the 26th, not now because we have two big games,” explained Mammila.
“He won’t sit on the bench when we play Platinum Stars in the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday night and even when we play Chippa United in the league on Saturday at Peter Mokaba. The assistant coach MacDonald Makhubedu will take over the hot seat and will be assisted by the head coach of the MDC team, Thoka Matsimela,” Mammila continued.
Mammila also went on to clear the names of club captain Olaleng Shaku and goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke who were also mentioned to being part of the misconduct, declining any knowledge of the players’ involvement.
“I don’t know about Shaku and Masuluke drinking on the bus. The captain is not suspended and Masuluke is not suspended. They are training with the team,” he further revealed.
