Mabuza To Deliver His Last SOPA

NELSPRUIT: It is rumoured President Cyril Ramaphosa will appoint him as his deputy during a cabinet reshuffle.

African National Congress (ANC) deputy president David Mabuza may deliver his last state of the province address before being elevated to being the country’s deputy president.

Mabuza, who is Mpumalanga Premier, will deliver the state of the province address on Friday and sources this week have revealed that Ramaphosa will appoint him as his deputy.

It was previously thought that Ramaphosa will appoint Human Settlement Minister Lindiwe Sisulu as the deputy president and allow Mabuza to concentrate on building unity in the ANC across the country.

“It’s a done deal,” a source was quoted in the Citizen on Tuesday.

“DD is going to make his last Sopa on Friday. We know that he would like a female to replace him as Premier,” the source is reportedly to have said.

Cooperative Governance MEC Refilwe Mtsweni who has acted on a number of occasion in the absence of Mabuza is believed to be among those leading to take over from him.

However, the name of Reginah Mhaule appeared to be among those that are also considered by the ‘cat’, the source said.
