With the Absa Premiership nearing its end, the battle for points is now on and there are some important fixtures coming up where in the teams in those will be itching to bag maximum points to fulfil their current mandates.
Orlando Pirates vs. Kaizer Chiefs
Second placed Buccaneers will host third placed Chiefs whom they lead by a single point. Whoever wins that game will add an enzyme to go on challenging for the league title. Pundits always say that form means nothing when it comes to the Soweto Derby. If form was a factor to be considered, then Pirates would be the favourites to win this one.
Ajax Cape Town City vs SuperSport United
The match between the two teams will be determinant as to where the loser will be at the end of the day, probably deep in relegation. Supersport United have had a poor league campaign and it now looks as if they might fail to qualify for the top 8 if they don’t start picking up results. Mushin Ertugral’s Urban Warriors are currently in 15th place, a relegation playoff candidate and a win against Matsatsantsa can move them out of that position
Amazulu vs. Mamelodi Sundowns
Usuthu will want to stun Sundowns again as they beat them at home last year. However, the Brazilians will not want to see that happening against they don’t have the luxury to drop points at the moment. A win for Cavin Johnson’s side can move them within the top 8 as they currently sit on 10th place. A win for the Brazilians will keep them running away with the league title.
Cape Town City vs Chippa United
Benni McCarthy’s side have only won once in their last 5 matches, which has seen them drop from the top 4 to 6th position. They will want to collect maximum points to avoid being ousted from the top 8. A win for the Chilli boys can move them inside the top 8, so they will also want to win the game as they come from a 4-2 hammering by Orlando Pirates.
