JOHANNESBURG – The City of Johannesburg has confirmed that it will be closing eight of its libraries to ensure the library resources are up to date and relevant for use by residents on Wednesday.
The City said it will be doing stock taking in the libraries during the close down.
“Individual libraries will be closed to the public for the duration of the stock take, this is in compliance with treasury regulations GRAP 17, which ensures that library assets are kept modern and up to date,” said the city in a statement.
According to the city the Department of Library and Information Services will be conducting the stocktaking and residents are alerted to be aware of the days of closure and accommodate them.
Libraries that will be closed for stocktaking include:
Linbro Park Library: 26 February – 03 March 2018
Rosebank Library: 26 February – 03 March 2018
Alexander 3rd Avenue Library: 05 – 10 March 2018
Johannesburg City Library – Art Section: 05 – 10 March 2018
Florida Library: 12 – 17 March 2018
Pimville Library: 12 -17 March 2018
Phiri Library: 19 – 24 March 2018
Riverlea Library: 19 – 24 March 2018
The city has urged residents to be patient during the process.
