Laureus Sports Awards celebrated the party of the year Of achievement at Monaco yesterday.
South African, Caster Semenya was in line for World sportswoman of the year. Semenya reclaim the World 800m tittle at London last year and Bronze in 1500m. The South African Athlete was nominated with the side time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Phyllis, swimmer Kaite Ladecky, tennis Gabrine Muguruza, Serana Williams and Skiing Mikaela Shaffrin.
The accolade went to Williams. During 2017 she won Australian Open for the Seventh time and open era record.
The sportsman category went to Roger Federer, the Switz maestro who also won the come back of the year award with his Fifth Austrain Open and Eighth Wimbledon tittle in 2017.
The tennis World number one, is the second man to win the Open era to win Wimbledon without dropping a set. Federer in the Sportsman category was up against track runner Mohamed Farah, four time Your ďe France champion Chris Frome, Formula One driver’s Champion Lewis Hamilton, great tennis rival Rafeal Nadal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo
