POLOKWANE: Thobejane was initially suspended by the club after it was reported that he and a couple of players drank alcohol on their way back from a game with Free State Stars.

Baroka FC Chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has confirmed that they have decided to part ways with long serving coach Kgoloko Thobejane after his hearing before the club’s DC on Monday.

Thobejane was initially suspended by the club after it was reported that he and a couple of players drank alcohol on their way back from a game with Free State Stars. The first hearing was scheduled for February 26, which the suspended coach then failed to avail himself to. With a second hearing appointed, Thobejane attended the Monday hearing and it was then decided that the contract of the coach be terminated with immediate effect according to the Bakgaka’s chairperson.

“Yes we have released him, and this time he showed up for the hearing,” revealed Mphahlele.

The chairperson went on to further reveal that caretaker coach MacDonald Makhubedu, who has sat on the dugout for five matches already will continue to lead the club going forward until the end of the season.

“He will finish the season, we think he can do well. He has done well and we have not lost in the last five matches, so we will give him until end of the season and then we will take it from there,” he concluded.
