Johannesburg-On Saturday Kaizer Chiefs played host to National First Division side Stellenbosch FC, as Amakhosi went victo1rious on the night, claiming a 2-1 win.
It was Parker’s night as the veteran made two goal assist, handing both Eric Matoho and Leonardo Castro to take Chiefs to the last eight of the tournament.
Kaizer Chiefs’ passage to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup wasn’t pretty convincing‚ but coach Steve Komphela was delighted by the performance of his striking force Bernard Parker and Leonardo Castro
“We are delighted to progress to the next round,” Komphela is quoted as saying on his club’s website.
“It wasn’t a walk in the park. Stellenbosch came out and really made a fight of it. However, before their goal, we had a couple of chances to bury the match, including Teenage Hadebe’s header. That was a clear-cut chance, but we failed to finish from close range.”
Komphela added: “There were a lot of positives to build on, even Castro’s goal came from Parker’s touch.
“We will take this win to the next match, because after a win one goes to the next match with less pressure.”
Kaizer Chiefs will know on Thursday whom they will battle with in the next round of Nedbank Cup last eight
