South Africa’s fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been suspended for two matches following the incident which was a brush-up with Aussie skipper, Steve Smith on Friday.
Proteas will have to face the Aussies without Rabada as he was found guilty on Monday, with level 2 ICC Code of Conduct offence of ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player.
He was always fined 50 percent of his match fee and given three demerit points after a disciplinary hearing following his denial of the charge. The 22-year old come into contact with Smith while celebrating his wicket after having him trapped in front for 25 in the first innings.
In a conference on Monday Rabada said he will stop because his letting him and the team down,
“It’s going to have to stop,I’m letting the team down and letting myself down,” Rabada stated.
He also said he didn’t even feel any contact.”Honestly, I didn’t feel contact in that moment. I was just so pumped up,” he said.
The Proteas fast bowler has gotten himself in too much of trouble lately as he has been given eight demerit points within a 24-month period automatically leading to a two match suspension.
South Africa will play the next match in the Sunfoil series against Australia 22 March with both teams having one point in the series.
