FREE STATE: Two of the biggest club in PSL are vying for Free State Stars mentor’s signature.
With Free State Stars having a stellar season so far under Luc Eyamel, interest in the Belgian Coach has mounted for his services. He has been with the club for less than a season since joining the Bethlehem club after parting ways with Polokwane City.
Reports making the rounds are that SuperSport United have joined the race for Eymael’s signature as a replacement for Erick Tinkler. Tinkler left his post at Matsatantsa recently after only joining them in the beginning of the season. The position at United is still vacant and Eymael’s name is rumoured to be top of the pile to filling the position.
Before rumours of the Pretoria club’s interest in the Free State Stars Coach surfaced, Kaizer Chiefs were the first team to be linked with him. It seemed as if his next destination was surely Naturena. However, the club is yet to decide whether they will give current coach Steve Komphela an extended stay at the club after his current deal expires.
Eymael has been impressive since arriving in South Africa as he guided Rise and Shine to a top 8 finish during his time there. His name has become one to reckon since joining Ea lla Koto as they currently sit in third position in the Absa Premiership table.
Last season the team, under his leadership, fought off relegation, clearly showing that the Belgian has transformed the club that came close to selling their top flight status at the end of last season. Stars are also in this season’s Nedbank Cup last 8.
The coach himself has come out to ridicule the links saying that he is not aware of interest in him. He also indicated that there is no formal enquiries have been made to his current club regarding his availability but it is clearly a matter of time for the interested teams to come knocking.
