RUSTENBURG: Platinum Stars could officially be confirmed relegated to the NFD in the next three rounds if they don’t manage to pick up wins in their last 6 games of the season as they still sit bottom of the log.
Dikwena’s situation at the bottom worsened this past weekend after they went 1-0 down to Bloemfontein Celtics to leave them with no change to the 17 points they have at the bottom, 7 less than 15th Ajax Cape Town.
They have had the poorest of seasons as they have only managed to win 3 of their 24 games, drawn 8 and lost a devastating 13 times. They conceded 32 times in the process and only scored 15 times this season.
Roger De Sa and his troops have to dig deep in their last 6 games if they are to at least get a playoff sport and dodge automatic relagation. Their next six fixtures are with Baroka FC (A), Polokwane City (H), Kaizer Chiefs (A), AmaZulu FC (H), Golden Arrows (A), and Bidvest Wits (H).
About 5 years ago, the Rustenburg club were at their prime, winning the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout trophies in the same year. They will hope that they won’t become like Moroka Swallows who experienced the same thing and have faced relegation in each league after their PSL chop.
