Randfontein-With an eye on unearthing the best community talent in West Rand, the Greater Randfontein Easter Soccer Tournament, most attended tournament will resumes this Easter holidays.

The draw has been done and dust, what left now is the survival of the fittest. First game is between Greater Soweto Academy and Sibanye Gold on Friday, kick-off time 09:00am.

Speaking to The Republic Mail, the tournament founder Abe Montwedi said, “This year’s tournament will be a giant killing event, full of glimpse and glance.”

This year, the initiative will see 20 teams competing, Nine from Westb Rand and 11 from surroundings.

“We having top teams around West Rand and surroundings, for instance teams like Mogale Celtics, Four Stars, defending Champions Villa Marcelli, Oupa Manyisa’s very own Roof Top Fc, the list is endless.”

In what is believed the tournament has produced high top flight PSL players.

“Since the tournament established back in 2003, we have produced our very own West Rand Players who have played in the same tournament, the likes of Oupa Manyisa, Thapelo Morena, Pule Ekstein, Mongezi Bobe, and Ben Motshwari to name the few.”

2017 reigning champions, Villa Marcelli are in for a stiff competition this year as they look to defend their title against eager opponents Mohlakeng FC.
