Johannesburg – Orlando Pirates were on Monday confirmed as winners of this season Q-3 innovation following their impressive run in the second half of the 2017/18 PSL season.
Pirates beat Bidvest Wits who were second on the log and current league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who finished third on the Q3 Innovation.
The sea Robbers had never won the innovation accolade since it was established back in 2012, but the impressive run under coach Micho Sredojevic, made it easy for the Soweto giants to claim the prize.
The Buccaneers are currently in second place with 45 points, four points behind table toppers Sundowns and Pirates will look to close the gap when they take on SuperSport United on Wednesday night.
“The League congratulates Orlando Pirates for this achievement. The Club walks away with R1.5 million prize money,” read a statement from the PSL.
