Taxi Crashes Into Lamp Pole Leaving Three Injured

HOUGHTON: Three people were injured this evening, two of them critically, when a taxi crashed into a lamp pole on Oxford Road in Houghton, Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi on the side of the road against a lamp post. A man and woman were found trapped inside the taxi while a third patient was found walking around on the scene.

Rescue Services had to use various extrication equipment to free the two patients from the taxi. Once freed, paramedics assessed the two and found that they were in a critical condition. The patient found walking around had sustained only minor injuries

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the two critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, one of the critically injured patients was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. The two other patients were transported by ambulance.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
