DURBAN: The two oldest teams in the country’s top flight will meet this weekend when AmaZulu host Orlando Pirates in an Absa Premiership encounter on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts AmaZulu currently occupy 11th spot on the league log with 32 points, just one point away from 8th spot where Baroka sit. Usuthu have only won one of their last 5 league matches and their last league match was a 1-1 draw at Bloemfontein Celtic last weekend. A win for them can push them within the top 8.
Their opponents on the day, The Sea Robbers were in a league action during midweek which resulted in a 0-0 draw with SuperSport United in Mpumalanga. They are in 2nd place in the league log with 46 points, trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points.
The Buccaneers will want to go back home with maximum points o keep the Brazilians on their toes in the race for the title. A win for them can also put them in pole position to finish the season in 2nd position to guarantee qualification for the CAF Champions League.
The last time the two veteran clubs met, the affair ended in a 1-1 draw courtesy of Ntsikelelo Nyauza’s own goal before going on to score the equaliser for his club.
The match will take place at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kick off at 15h00.
