JOHANNESBURG: The North Gauteng High Court dismissed former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe’s application to appeal a ruling against his appointment.
The court dismissed the case with costs. It ruled that Molefe can’t keep his R30-million pension payout.
In January, a court ruled Molefe’s reappointment as the power utility’s CEO was unlawful.
The High Court in Pretoria also ruled that Molefe should pay back monies which had already been paid out to him.
The court unanimously found that Molefe resigned, his declaration that he did not resign was not true and that he was never entitled to pension money.
In the scathing judgment, the court found it disturbing how people in leadership positions with a total lack of shame and dignity abused public funds.
