PRETORIA: SuperSport United care-taker coach Kaitano Tembo says that the club’s Caf Confederations Cup progression to the next round is a must.
Matsatsantsa trail the Kenyans by a solitary goal and will have to dig deep for goals at home if they want to see themselves through to the next round. Although the team is facing difficulties in league duties, the coach insists the team must win their home game to progress to the next round.
“When we played them away, we sent a relatively young team. We gave players like Luke De Roux, Sipho Mbule and had Thuso Phala upfront and I believe we played well until they scored the penalty. We cannot dwell on the past now because it’s the nature of playing away, we need to soldier on and fully focus on Wednesday’s match.”
“Such tournaments require you to be clinical at home because it is difficult getting the result away. If you win your home games then you can simply forget because when you are away, you need to be somehow win the game and be extra careful which doesn’t allow you to play your normal game,” said Tembo on Caf website.
“They have the advantage at the moment and they will most likely sit back and want to catch us on the break. We need to try and break them while at the same time ensure that we don’t give away anything,” he added.
The Pretoria club were in action during the weekend and will host Gor Mahia at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night, kick off at 19h00.
