Pirates Will Play Wits Behind Closed Doors

JOHANNESBURG: Orlando Pirates have announced their league game between Bidvest Wits will be played behind doors.

The Premier Soccer league Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday final handed down a punishment to the Sea Robbers following the crowed violence at their game between Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on February 11, 2017.

The League said in a statement that the sanction on Pirates was that “they must play two home matches in a closed stadium,” but added that “the implementation of one of these matches has been suspended for a period of 24 months.

The Absa Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits scheduled for Wednesday, 25 April, will now be played behind closed doors in terms of a sanction handed down by the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee.

Fans who have already bought tickets for this match will be advised in the near future as to how to get a refund.
