JOHANNESBURG: The DA calls for Ramaphosa to fire both Mahumapelo and Massualle in the respective provinces.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) said President Cyril Ramaphosa’s failure to recall North West and Eastern Cape Premier is a clear demonstration of his protection of leaders who are indifferent to the plight of the people they are supposed to serve.

“The fact is, a sell-by date on both  Mahumapelo and Phumulo Massualle has long since expired and they must vacate their offices with the little dignity they have left,” said DA national spokesperson Refiloe Ntsekhe.

Residents of Keiskammahoek and Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape, and Taung in the North West took it to the streets to protest against poor service delivery, corruption and unemployment against the current government in their cities which led to violence and a sad loss of life in North West.

The DA says it once again appeals to the president of the African National Congress (ANC), Ramaphosa, to listen to the people’s call and let the two Premiers vacate office.

“If Ramaphosa is serious about the ‘New Daw’ he has promised our people, he will recall Mahumapelo and Massualle without further delay,” said the DA.

The DA said President Ramaphosa must put the needs of the people above the internal politics of his party.

“If he fails to remove these Premiers his ‘New Dawn’ would be nothing less than a PR stunt, all the new dawn has brought is chaos and disorder,” said the DA.
