JOHANNESBURG: The ANCYL calls for the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) to dissolve the North West Provincial Executive Committee (PEC).
This comes after Supra Mahumapelo resigned, only for the PEC to announce on 9 May that he must not resign as premier of the province.
Sipho Dial ANCYL Provincial Secretary spoke to talk Radio station 702. ”The last thing we saying is that Mahumapelo is no longer the premier of the North West because he had committed to the people of the North West, he will no longer be the premier and we treat him as such.”
The youth league calls for the top branch of the ANC to do something about the political situation in the North West. ”That PEC is very broken, it is highly compromised, Luthuli House should dissolve that thing, and establish a task team that is going to rebuild the ANC,” he said.
Mahumapelo has since taken leave of absence and Finance MEC in the North West Wendy Nelson is appointed the acting as premier of the province.
