JOHANNESBURG: With only 28 days to go to the World’s biggest tournament, the anticipated FIFA World Cup in Russia is soon to be witnessed.
With the domestic football league around the World being done and dusted; now The Republic Mail pays attention to the four key players who will miss this year’s blockbuster.
- Dani Alves
Brazil have been handed a major blow as Dani Alves will miss the tournament. The Paris Saint-Germain right back had a knock during Coup de France final versus Les Herbiers.
Avles suffered a knee ligament injury according to PSG medical team and he which could be out up to eight to nine months on the side-lines.
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The Frenchman might never play any World Cup from now as he is already 32, he might give young defenders a chance to prove themselves.

Lars Stindl was a red-hot form for the defending Champions Germany at the Confederations Cup last year and he won tournament with the Germans.
Standl suffered an ankle injury against Schalke 04 on April 29 and being ruled out for 3 months. Although it is not that huge blow for Germany has they still got experience Thomas Muller as the number choice striker.
