JOHANNESBURG: Suitors in for Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael have reportedly increased their interest in him after leading Free State Stars to Nedbank Cup success to claim his first trophy in South Africa.
SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs are the two teams leading the race for the Belgian mentor who has proved to be one to reckon with since his debut PSL job with Polokwane City whom he led to their first season ever in the 2016/2017 season.
Amakhosi have been rumoured to being after the former AS Vita coaches’ signature even when Steve Komphela was still at the helm of the club. Those rumours fuelled after Chiefs parted ways with Komphela following their 2-0 Nedbank Cup exit at the hands of Eymael’s team.
On the other hand, the 58 years Old’s name has also been at the top of links with SuperSport United who parted ways with Erick Tinkler midway into the season following a string of poor results which lead to the club fighting off a place in the relegation/promotion playoffs since his departure.
Eymael has been publicly indicating that he is yet to receive a formal offer from both the clubs being linked with him in the media and further indicated after his Nedbank Cup win that Chiefs have until next week to make him an offer if they are interested in his services.
Time will tell as to what will happen in the next few days with regards to the Belgian’s future on whether he will join Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United or whether he will stick around for another season with Free State Stars whom he had his first season with, leading them to a top 8 finish as well.
