PORT ELIZABETH: Dan Malesela has revealed his excitement in being back at Chippa United after his re-appointment as head coach was announced on Sunday.
Malesela who celebrated his 52nd birthday on Sunday will once again lead the Chilli Boys going into next season. He says that he believes it was fate that saw his return to the club as he was unsuccessful in securing another job after parting ways with them earlier in the finished season.
“I believe in fate, it is what has brought us back together. It was cherry on top to celebrate my birthday and my comeback to the club to be confirmed. I am grateful to be back. I really appreciate that the Chairman is presenting me with this opportunity again. I thought when I left I would be able to move on and join another club, but God clearly wanted me back in Port Elizabeth with Chippa United.”
“I enjoy working with players on the pitch, but the break helped me to reflect and watch a lot of football. We can all take lessons from Pitso Mosimane is doing at Sundowns, its impressive. He has taken things to another level and we must emulate his achievement,” said Malesela on the club’s official website.
The coach who is popularly known as “dance” revealed that he had missed the players at the club as well as the people of Port Elizabeth and supporters of the club, indicating that some stayed in contact with him after he left the club.
“I missed the players a lot. A few players called me now and again for advice. The people of the province showed me love during my time as Coach and I missed that. Many of them were hurt when I left and now I cannot wait to be back to start repaying them. I am all about football, I love the game and I really missed being on the training field with the players and the ball,” he added.
Malelsela had previously led the Chilli Boys to a 6th place finish and will definitely be looking to take them up higher when he begins his spell next season.
