PORTUGAL: Bafana Bafana striker has come out to talk about his sensational promotion to Braga’s first team in Portugal following a stint with their B team, saying his dream to play in European competitions is finally being a reality.
The 28-year-old striker has penned a massive five year deal with the Portuguese Primera liga side who will be competing in next season’s Europa League. Luther Singh who is in the COSAFA squad for Bafana Bafana says the move takes him to a different level which he will relish going forward.
“It’s been coming, I have trained with the first team many times and have travelled with the team on several occasions but have mainly played in the B team the whole season. It was just matter of time. This is a different level.
“The first team plays in the Europa League, and that has always been my dream to play in one of these top competitions. Now I have the opportunity in front of me, I just have to learn from my teammates and fit in well with the group and good things will come my way,” Singh said.
“When the day comes for me to play in the competition, it will be a dream come true for me as it is really important for me to play against the best players.
“Words can’t describe how I will feel when that day comes but I know it will be an honour for me to represent my team, and South Africa in a big competition like that which is a stepping stone to play UEFA Champions League.
“This past season we were close to play the playoffs but we never made it. God’s willing we will be there next season,” said Singh on Bafana Bafana’s website.
Singh has played in the COSAFA cup in 2016 when Bafana lost 2-1 to Zambia, ending the tournament as the top goal scorer.
He will be available for selection when South Africa play Group A winners Madagascar at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kick off at 15h00.
