JOHANNESBURG: Transport Minister Blade Nzimande says he will not keep former SAA Board Chair, Dudu Myeni as his advisor.
Former Transport minister Joe Maswanganyi appointed her to the post. The process was however not concluded as she failed to submit her academic records.
The former SAA board chair has failed several times to appear before State Capture Inquiry in Parliament, citing health reasons.
Myeni was subpoenaed to appear before the inquiry into the alleged capture of Eskom by the Guptas after she snubbed the hearings in February. She was expected to appear before the public enterprises committee that is probing allegations of corruption and mismanagement at Eskom‚ but made a no-show.
After being removed as SAA board chair, Maswanganyi announced that she will be his special advisor.
Maswanganyi – at the time – defended the appointment of controversial Myeni as his special advisor. He said Myeni has the skills and knowledge needed to advise him, describing her as a capable South African with knowledge of the transport sector.
The department says even if the process was completed, it would have lapsed with the removal of Maswanganyi.
