PORT ELIZABETH: Chippa United chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi has come out to hail their latest acquisition Thabo Nthethe whom they signed from league Champions Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this week.
The 34-year-old experienced striker enjoyed a fruitful spell at Chloorkop where he won satisfactory trophies. The Chilli Boys chairman believes that having Nthethe in the team will add value to the Port Elizabeth club, pointing out his leadership qualities he brings to the club.
“Thabo Nthethe is a player with the right characteristics and a perfect fit for the Club. He is a defender that is comfortable with the ball. He is a leader on and off the pitch. We are delighted to have him on board,” Siviwe Mpengesi said.
“We have a relatively young team and we have no doubt that Thabo will share his experience positively with the rest of the squad. We welcome him to the East Cape and wish him all the best,” said the Chairman on the club’s website.
Nthethe had been angling for a move away from Sundowns for a while before his move to Chippa following his spell on the sidelines as Ricardo Nacimento, Matjeka Madisha, Bangaly Saumohoro and Wayne Arendse were preferred before him by Pitso Mosimane.
