JOHANNESBURG: The ANC NEC has postponed all regional conferences that were planned to take place on the weekend.
The African National Congress (ANC)’s National Executive Committee is meeting on Monday at the St Georges Hotel in Irene, outside Pretoria, to discuss burning issues plaguing the ruling party, including its provincial structures.
It is reported that the ANC NEC has taken a decision to postponed all planned regional conferences that were t set to take place this coming weekend. This comes after ANC members from West Rand, Gauteng have threatened to disrupt the ANC NEC meeting following a dispute resolution processes ahead of the Regional Conference.
ANC NEC members Senzo Mchunu and Febe Potgieter-Gqubule came out to address protesting ANC members.
According to Mchunu, “Concerns will be raised with Secretary-General Ace Magashule, who will respond in writing after members demanded that their concerns must be resolved before the Regional Conference this weekend or they will interdict it.”
“We will recommend to Magashule that the West Rand Regional Conference don’t go ahead this weekend until the issues of BGMs are resolved,” Mchunu added.
The ANC NEC meeting is currently underway in St Georges Hotel in Irene, outside Pretoria.
