JOHANNESBURG: Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau’s move to the English Premiership is edging closer after Brighton and Hove Albion improved their offer for the PSL footballer of the season.
According to a Johannesburg-based radio station, Power FM, Sundowns will accept a new offer of R50 million valid for 24 hours for Tau. While club owner Patrice may not entirely happy to be losing the attacking dynamo, he is said to be fine with the new offer.
Speculation regarding the transfer of the 24-year-old has been rife with reports that he has decided to stay away from Sundowns camp in a bid to force a move away from the PSL champions.
Last month, coach Pitso Mosimane said they are prepared to lose Tau, but only for the right offer.
“There’s one team that is serious and has put an offer for Percy. He got proposals, some of those are not really good for Mamelodi Sundowns. They must put a respectable offer.
“They can’t treat us like a team from Burundi. The French people came and gave us respect and we gave them Keegan [Dolly], why should we not release Percy,” Mosimane said.
