MOSCOW: England and Croatia will square off in the 2018 FIFA World Cup second semi-finals to determine who will play France who have already advanced to the final.
England have shocked pundits with their display in Russia which has seen them advance to the semi-finals stage after beating Sweden 2-0 in the quarter-finals stage.
Their opponents on the night Croatia have had a fair share of success in the tournament getting to the last four stage after eliminating host nation Russia via a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals.
The two European nations have met eight times in their history wherein the Englishmen recorded four victories and Croatia claiming 2 victories. Two of the meetings resulted in draws.
However, this will be only the second time in a major tournament as they only met in the Euro 2004 edition in a match which England won 4-2 in the group stages.
Although England are making their third appearance in a World Cup semi-final are seen as favourites to progress to final, Croatia may give them a run for their money in the match to see who will play France in the final.
The two teams will meet at the Lunzhniki Stadium on Wednesday night with kick off scheduled for 20h00.
