PORT ELIZABETH: Chippa United have announced the signing of the PSL’s most decorated Daine Klate following his departure from Bidvest Wits.
Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi had previously indicated early in the transfer window that Klate was their targeted Marquee signing and they have finally landed their man. Head coach Dan Malesela says that the club took many factors into consideration when making signings ahead of the new season.
“I’m not going to make any promises about the upcoming season, but we are going to try our best. We’d like to compete on the continent, and win silverware.”
“We were very careful with our selection this season. We didn’t only take the talent factor into consideration, we also looked at behaviour, age, and a real want from the player to be at the Club,” said Malesela.
Klate who is 33 years old has previously been in the books of SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits where he won league titles with all amongst other domestic cups. He will surely come in handy for Chippa with his experience.
The Chilli Boys have also secured the signing of Jabulani Shongwe, Thabo Nthethe, Ruzaigh Gamildien, Kabelo Seakanyeng and Thatayaone Kgamanyane in that regard.
