JOHANNESBURG: Orlando Pirates have made known of their squad injuries so far as they are busy with preparations for the 2018/2019 season which is just around the corner.
Skilful winger Thabo Qalinge will miss their 2018/2019 Absa Premiership Season opener against PSL returnees Highlands Park next weekend. The 26-year-old winger old is out with a muscle abductor strain which he suffered in a pre-season friendly match against National First Division (NFD) side Stellenbosch FC last weekend.
Qalinge is however busy with his rehabilitation as he is still feeling a sense of discomfort following the injury but may return early in the coming season according to the Buccaneers’ medical department. Second in their injury problems is another attacker in Thembinkosi Lorch who the medical team are possibly ruling out his availability in the match against Bucs former coach Owen Da Gama’s side.
The man who ended last season on a high note for The Ghost also picked up his knee injury in a pre-season friendly match against fellow top-flight side Cape Town City. He is, however, receiving treatment for the injury and will be back early in the new season as well.
Pirates have bolstered their squad ahead of the new season and amongst their recruits are wingers Vincent Pule and Kudakwashe Mahachi who will have those areas covered following the injuries of Qalinge and Lorch.
