PRETORIA: Mamelodi Sundowns’ coach Pitso Mosimane says he is looking forward to their big 2018/2019 Absa Premiership opening match against Kaizer Chiefs in Pretoria on Saturday.

The defending Champions will welcome Amakhosi at the Loftus Versveld Stadium in a match both heavyweights will be looking to win and get their season started on a good note. Mosimane, however, believes that it will not be a straightforward win for them as chiefs are always tough opponents for the Brazilians.

“What an opener! What a match! What a way to start the Absa Premiership. It’s two big teams in a match with a lot at stake from the bragging rights to important points to start the season well. It’s always going to be a big and a tough game when you are playing against Kaizer Chiefs,” said Mosimane on the club’s website.

Jingles also went on to downplay his team’s busy schedule in the August Month wherein they will play Golden Arrows 10 days later in the MTN8 before they travel to Morocco to take on Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League six days after the play Arrows.

“We are used to having such games that determine our lives, games that are very, very important. The game against AS Togo-Port was very important. If we had lost we would have been out of the tournament. If we lose to Golden Arrows, we’ll be out of the MTN8. After that, we go to Wydad Casablanca and if we don’t win against Wydad we will be asking for favours and hoping Horoya doesn’t win against AS Togo-Port.”

“Those two games mean a lot for us. We must go through to the semifinals of the MTN8 if we are serious. It’s just not easy for us because the South African football programme is different from the European programme. In Europe, at this time they are still getting used to each other but here we are playing for results. It’s the way it is. We know about it. We can’t complain,” he explained.

The League Champions will be without Anthony Laffor and marquee signing Andile Jali who are out with injuries when they meet Chiefs at Loftus on Saturday afternoon with the game set to kick off at 15h00.
